1) Darren got a much needed break from work and we got some much needed time with him
2) We all got a chance to get to know Juliana better. Having long periods of time in the car really gave us time to talk and get to know her
3) We got to experience a beautiful part of the world and feel grateful for it
4) Juliana got to meet Aunt Robyn (and now knows why we lovingly call her "Saint Robyn".
It is really funny because we have been so worried about what to feed Juliana. She is very gracious and tries everything at least once and never makes a fuss about things she doesn't like. On the way to Yellowstone, she told us that there are American restaurants in Brazil and they serve sandwiches and burgers and etc. We realized we eat a LOT of what could be considered "sandwiches"... especially on this trip. We had regular cold cut sandwiches true but didn't even think that the wraps we ate a couple of times really are a sandwich, as are taco's (Juliana said it's just a mexican sandwich. HAA). Anyway she hasn't really hated anything but hasn't really LOVED anything either.... until she met up with Aunt Robyn. Juliana has been here four weeks as of today and her favorite thing she's eaten so far is still Aunt Robyn's breakfast casserole and Aunt Robyn's cinnamon rolls.
Which leads me to believe that Aunt Robyn should be made an Ambassador for the United Nations. She really could instill world peace. I'm totally serious!
ANYWAY... we had a great time on our mini-vacation. The weather cooperated for the most part and we had a safe and fun journey.
The majority of the pictures are in the FLICKR album (see the post before this for the link) but here are our pages for the week for my album plus two inserts.
